Last week, photos began circulating on social media showing a combat-equipped AR-pattern FDE carbine sporting the Glock logo on the lower receiver. Of course, half of the internet got their pants excited, and another half started chanting, "Fake! Fake!"

Today, The Gun Blog (TFB) is reporting that the photos are indeed of a Glock AR carbine, and that they have received confirmation of that fact from an Austrian gunsmith.

Glock AR rumors have been circulating for years, but it looks like the gun in the photos, marked GR-115F, is the real deal.
Sources who first leaked the two images said the weapon was related to a UK military requirement, which is still unclear. TFB reports that it may be "linked to the UK's current plan to adopt a new AR-pattern rifle for the newly formed Ranger squad in place of the standard UK SA80/L85 rifles."

In the spring of 2021, the last time everyone was buzzing about the possibility of a Glock AR, reports surfaced of patents that Glock had filed for interesting gun features unrelated to the Glock pistol, such as a medium-length gas pistol. and other AR-esque schemes. Design drawings showed an ambidextrous, non-recoiling charging handle positioned above the barrel, but as we can see from the leaked images, this new Glock AR carbine appears to have a standard 1000 charging handle behind the receiver.
While the Glock AR may finally be a real thing, don't expect it to be unveiled at SHOT Show 2023 in January or to hit retailers anytime soon.
Glock confirmed to TFB that the carbine was designed for military use, possibly more than one, saying, "Glock is always in the development of future products and technologies in pursuit of perfection. The image shared is of a product developed for specific applications. and is not available in the general market at this time.
